Description

Hey guys, turns out I\'m not dead! :D

Basically what happened was, I took a good look at my gallery and realized \"Wow, I fucking suck,\" so I took some time off to get some more practice on paper before trying to dive straight into the tablet. Can\'t say I\'ve gotten much better, but it seems like at least a little bit of an improvement, right?
...right?

Oh and if you\'re wondering why her hair looks so out of place, when I drew it I still wasn\'t quite sure what style I wanted to do, and it just looked so cool I didn\'t want to change it ><

Tips for 1st Time Tablet/Sai Users

1.) first things first, make sure you actually download your tablet to your computer. that means inserting the cd that came with the tablet when you bought it and going through the whole setup thing. without this, the sensitivity on your pen won't work correctly, and it'll be just like using a mouse...but with a pen.

2.) whatever you do, don't use the lineart tool! you won't get anywhere if you continue to use the lineart tool, even with the sensitivity working with your tablet pen. if you keep using the lineart tool, your lines will look pixelly and unnatural.

3.) make sure your pen is stabilized! the best thing to do when using a tablet for lineart is to use the stabilize option at the end of toolbar next to the button that flips the picture. S-1 and up makes the lines smoother, but on a lot of programs if you go too high the pen lags. anything below S-1 usually leaves little curvy lines at the ends of your lineart and makes it look messy.

4.) the canvas button is your friend! in the toolbar, you will find the "canvas" button (or you could use Ctrl+C). the canvas button offers a lot of options, the most useful being change resolution, change size, and crop by selection. with change resoution, you can change the resolution and size of your photo, meaning that if you tend to draw really big or really small sketches, you can make them bigger with this option so that your picture will be the size you want! change size will only change the size of your canvas, not your actual drawing. crop by selection is pretty self-explanatory: make a selection with the select tool, and this option will crop the canvas so that only your selection remains.

5.) don't treat your tablet pen like a mouse! your tablet pen has many wonderful features, but it was not meant to be used like a mouse. a mouse is limited, while a tablet pen allows you to draw as if you were drawing on paper! that's the entire point of a tablet, you know. your digital art will go nowhere until you stop using the lineart tool and actually use the pen the way it's supposed to be used.

now get out there and USE YOUR TABLET CORRECTLY! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

you're welcome
